It’s my husband’s birthday. Can we start with that? Happy Birthday, Aleksa! How fitting that his birthday also kicks off the Twelve Days of Blogmas.
For those unaware, Blogmas is an annual blogging challenge that encourages writers to post a blog everyday until December 25th. Last year I decided to take the leap and participate in the challenge for the first time. I covered some odd ground: discussing the ghosts of my Christmas past, my disdain for nail salons, and my refusal to join Substack to name a few choice topics…
But who cares? I did it! I’m still waiting for someone to mail me an “I Survived Blogmas” shirt, but I completed the challenge. And honestly, it felt good to do so. So I thought maybe I’d give it another try.
You know, because twelve blogs offering you access to my innermost thoughts for free on a public website to be read and critiqued is always a heartwarming experience.
Jokes aside — I’m looking forward to this year’s challenge yet again, even though I think I am insane for doing this again. Do I have any time to be writing blogs right now? No, I don’t. I’ve got a million things going on which you’re bound to hear about in the next few posts. I am disgustingly behind on replying to my friend’s texts (I love you, Hannah and Haley!). I have a mountain of clean laundry waiting to be folded that has just been sitting idle on my desk chair for a week (I’m sorry, Myself).
I say this with humility: I have spread myself too thin this year. But the end-date is in sight, and I believe Blogmas will be that hint of whimsy I need to get through the finish line. I am not promising perfection to myself or to my readers — just that I hop on the laptop and write the blogs.

Until tomorrow,
That Blogmas Girl
